Introduction

Charlie’s Cottage, 47 Corve Street, is a two-bedroomed terraced Grade II listed black and white timber framed town property situated over two floors.  It is a 4-minute level walk from the train station and a 2- minute walk to the start of the town.  There is a gentle uphill walk to the town centre.

Pre-Arrival

The cottage has an informative website (which is regularly updated) with descriptions and photographs of the property, the accommodation and location.

Enquires and bookings can be made via the website, email, text or by telephone (mobile and landline).

All guests are provided with written directions to Charlie’s Cottage, travelling either by car or train.

The nearest bus stop is 200m from Charlie’s on Station Road and passes every 15-minutes.  Ludlow train station is a level 4-minute walk away www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk.  Taxis are available at the railway station. Car hire is also available if you decide to travel by train - Co-wheels Shropshire car club enables you to travel to Ludlow by train but still have access to a car when you need it. Co-wheels have 2 cars in Ludlow parked just 7 minutes walk from the station.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

There is no private parking.  There is on-street parking directly outside of Charlies Cottage along Corve Street.  A parking permit for one vehicle will be provided, if required, at no extra charge.  This permit will allow you to park in a number of “Blue Zone” parking areas for the duration of your stay.

Main Entrance

The property is accessed directly from the pavement directly into the lounge by two concrete steps (both 150mm deep) through a wooden door (approx. 720mm wide by 1950mm high, hinged on the left).  The key for the door is kept in a key safe to the left of the front door, under the window.  The code will be given prior to arrival in your booking confirmation.  You will need to supply your car registration number prior to your stay.

Living Room

The whole of the ground floor has timber effect laminate flooring throughout on a level surface.   The light switch is located on the right of the wall which controls the main living room light, along with radiator on the right-hand wall on entry.    The fireplace has an electric wood burning effect fire fitted, with a rug positioned in front of it.  There is a wall mounted flat screen SMART tv with remote control.  There is a three-seater sofa, an easy chair and coffee table in between. There is a round oak dining table, two dining chairs and a window seat. The fuse box, electricity box and main stop cock valve are in a ground level cupboard to the right of the bay window in the lounge.  The lounge leads onto the self-catering kitchen

Self-Catering Kitchen

All kitchen units are built-in except for a free standing under counter fridge with ice box. The kitchen units house pans, cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery. There are two glass fronted wall cupboards.  All work surfaces, built in hob and sink are 930mm above floor level, some work surfaces are 500mm deep except for the under counter fridge and build in dishwasher worktops and sink unit which are 600mm deep and 450mm deep by the kettle.  Above the built-in hob is an extractor hood. There is a main ceiling light and under unit lighting in the fitted kitchen.  There are two open wall shelves above the microwave with everyday crockery.

There are two built-in storage cupboards – one houses the vacuum cleaner, mop and bucket, iron, ironing board and broom.  The other cupboard is fitted with shelves and houses additional crockery, glasses, kitchen appliances a double household waste bin (general waste and one for recycled waste) and First Aid Kit and fire extinguisher. There is a wall mounted fire blanket and a wall mounted coat rack in the kitchen also.

Garden

The external door from the kitchen is 730mm wide and 1970mm high and accesses a rear level enclosed garden.  There are two concrete steps out of the back door (100mm and 170mm deep) which lead onto a natural stone paved area.  There is an exterior light fitted to the wall to the right of the back door and further garden lighting.  A garden table and chairs are provided.  The seat cushions are kept in the kitchen storage cupboard.  There is a refuse bin located in a wooden container with hinged door. There is a Yale lock on the back garden gate which leads to a level surface for rear access to and from Charlie’s Cottage.

Upstairs

The stairs lead off from the living room – there are 11 steps and the risers are approx. 200 mm high.  The stair case is relatively narrow (approx. 650mm wide) and relatively steep.  Some children, elderly or those with mobility difficulties may find difficulty. There is a wooden bannister fitted to the wall.  The wooden stairs could be slippery in slippers/socks, so extra care should be taken and at all times use the handrail when using the stairs. The landing has fitted carpet.  The landing is 700mm wide 2.5m  long. There is one step (approx. 120mm high) leading off the landing into a small single bedroom. 

Bedroom One

The door frame is 740mm wide x 1960mm high. The single bed is 3ft wide, with a small chest of drawers next to the bed approx 560mm wide x 750mm tall, and a lamp.  The divan bed has two large drawers for extra storage.  There is a window looking out to the rear of the property. The room is carpeted.

Bathroom

Across the landing is the bathroom fitted with vinyl flooring.  The door frame is 750mm wide x 1870mm high. There is a walk-in shower cubicle (no bath), the step up into shower is 100mm), vanity washbasin with cupboard storage underneath, large wall mounted mirror, double shaving point inside the vanity unit, toilet and wall mounted heated towel rail.  The toilet seat is 430mm high. There are three ceiling lights – one of which is directly above the vanity unit and mirror.  Height to top of basin is 850mm.  There is a small window opening facing the rear of the property.

Bedroom Two

The door frame is 740mm x 1960mm. The main bedroom has painted floorboards (no carpet), one rug and a king-sized bed (5-foot-wide), with two wooden painted bedside tables each with a lamp and one radio.  There is a large chest of drawers (1140mm high x 1030mm wide), full-length mirror, chair and double wooden valet stand.  The window looks onto the front of the property onto the street. 

The airing cupboard is on the landing and houses the gas boiler and additional blankets, throws and hot water bottles.

Charlie’s Cottage is strictly no smoking (including vapor and e-cigarettes) and no pets.  Polite request - no shoes to be worn upstairs for the comfort and hygiene of other guests.

There is a mains operated smoke alarm fitted in the living room and one on the landing.  There is also mains operated carbon monoxide alarm fitted on the landing.

Other Information

All rooms have a good number of electrical sockets, all rooms have at least one socket with a USB outlet (apart from the bathroom). There is a selection of tourist information leaflets, walking routes and information on places to eat, together with specific information relating to Charlies Cottages such as instruction leaflets/operating instructions for appliances.
