Charlie’s Cottage is a mid-terrace, Grade II* listed, timber-framed black and white property dating back to 1650. It has been sympathetically restored to preserve its abundance of wonderful historical character.

The front door opens into the cosy sitting room, featuring a lovely cushioned window seat – the perfect place to read the paper or watch the world go by. A beautiful Georgian oak table comfortably seats three. Wooden flooring runs throughout the ground floor, which is furnished with a three-seater sofa, occasional armchair, Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker. Free Wi-Fi and broadband are provided, with USB charging sockets fitted in every room (excluding the bathroom). For cooler evenings, there is a wood-burning effect electric fire, and all rooms are heated by radiators. Original oak beams feature throughout the cottage, with the exception of the single bedroom.

The sitting room leads through to a well-equipped, shaker-style kitchen with ceramic hob, built-in single oven, extractor hood, under-counter SMEG fridge with ice box, and a built-in dishwasher. High-quality appliances include a kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. Guests will also find a generous selection of glassware, crockery, Vera Wang cutlery, cookware and good-quality saucepans. An iron and ironing board are located in the kitchen pantry, along with a mini freezer (please note there is no washing machine).

A quirky oak staircase rises from the sitting room to the first floor. The stairs are relatively steep and narrow with two turns, and may therefore not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility difficulties.

Upstairs are two attractively furnished bedrooms: one with a king-size bed (5ft wide, with king-size pillows) and one single bedroom. Both feature sprung mattresses, 100% cotton bedding, and feather and down pillows and duvets for added comfort and luxury. Additional blankets, throws, hot water bottles and anti-allergy pillows are provided in the airing cupboard. Each bedroom has its own hairdryer, wall-mounted Smart TV and hanging space. The main bedroom also offers a large chest of drawers and a wooden double valet stand, while the single bedroom includes a small chest of drawers and two large concealed drawers built into the bed for extra storage.

Towels are provided in each bedroom, with a hand towel in the bathroom. The bathroom features a large walk-in shower with rainfall shower head, WC, a beautiful traditional freestanding vanity unit with large mirror, shaving mirror, double shaving socket (located inside the vanity unit) and a wall-mounted heated towel rail.

To the rear of the cottage is a small, enclosed and pretty courtyard garden with bistro table, chairs and garden lighting. It’s an ideal spot for alfresco dining in fine weather, or a peaceful place to relax while enjoying board games or the comforts indoors when the weather turns.

Short stays are welcome all year round, with a minimum stay of three nights.
